Gail Loveland Barille serves as the Director of Outdoor Chattanooga, a unique division of the City of Chattanooga’s Department of Parks and Outdoors. She has over 25 years of experience working in outdoor recreation, inclusion, and youth development and maintains a portfolio of nationally recognized recreation programs, events, and facilities. Her career has been defined by the creation of intentional “entry points,” ensuring that the outdoors remains a space of belonging for people of all backgrounds and abilities.

Prior to joining the City of Chattanooga in 2022, Gail served as the Executive Director for the Eastern Region of Conservation Legacy, CEO of the National Ability Center (NAC), and Associate Director of Outdoors for All in Seattle, WA. During her tenure at the NAC, she directed the master plan and fundraising for a major recreation campus expansion in Park City, UT. These upgrades provide world-class summer and snow-sport resources for individuals with disabilities and their families from all 50 states and over 18 countries. A recognized leader in outdoor recreation, Gail has stewarded strategic partnerships with the US Forest Service, National Park Service, UT and TN State Offices of Outdoor Recreation, the U.S. Paralympic Committee, and the International Paralympic Committee. Today, she is among a handful of local leaders behind Chattanooga’s ambitious “City in a Park” and “National Park City” initiatives, helping her community to become greener, healthier, and wilder. Beyond her professional leadership, Gail is a lifelong adventurer and mentor, devoted to empowering others through stewardship, community service, and the simple joy of having more fun outside!
