The Greater & Greener conference gathers every two years in cities across the country, which serve as an outdoor classroom to share best practices for building more vibrant, dynamic, and resilient cities. Host cities have the opportunity to showcase the innovations in their park systems to a network of park professionals, planners, nonprofit leaders, and advocates.

2024: seattle, WA

Greater & Greener 2024 was presented in partnership with Seattle Parks and Recreation, the host city lead partner.

Additional supporting partners included the Associated Recreation Council, Friends of Waterfront Seattle, and the Seattle Park Foundation.

2022: Philadelphia, pA

Greater & Greener 2022 was presented in partnership with host city lead partners Philadelphia Parks & Recreation and Fairmount Parks Conservancy.

2019: Denver, CO

Greater & Greener 2019 was presented in partnership with host city lead partner Denver Parks and Recreation.

2017: Saint Paul & Minneapolis, MN

Greater & Greener 2017: Parks Connecting Cities, Cultures, & Generations was presented in partnership with Saint Paul Parks and Recreation and Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board.

The conference focused on the role of urban parks in creating healthy, resilient, and economically competitive cities. It was the first time two cities co-hosted the conference.

2015: San Francisco, CA

Greater & Greener 2015: Innovative Parks, Vibrant Cities was presented in partnership with the San Francisco Recreation and Park Department, the host city’s lead agency.

The conference focused on the role of urban parks in creating healthy, resilient cities.

 

June 14-17, 2012

2012: New York City, NY

The first Greater & Greener conference was held in New York City with the theme Re-Imagining Parks for 21st Century.

The New York City Department of Parks and Recreation was the city’s host lead partner. More than six hundred participants attended.
