Kimberly McNeeley

Kimberly McNeeley began her career in parks and recreation at the age of 16 as a part-time swim instructor and lifeguard. Her passion for public service and community engagement propelled her through the ranks—from full-time programmer to various management roles—culminating in her appointment as Director of the Austin Parks and Recreation Department.
A lifelong public servant with experience at both city and county levels, Kimberly finds the greatest fulfillment in serving the community. Her academic background includes a bachelor’s degree in Special Education, which has been instrumental in developing inclusive programs and accessible recreational opportunities. She also holds a dual master’s degree in Exercise Science and Sports Management from Cleveland State University, pursued to further advance health and wellness initiatives within public spaces.
In Austin, Kimberly has had the opportunity to shape a park system that reflects a deep commitment to community access, environmental stewardship, and cultural preservation. She has been intentional in creating spaces that preserve natural landscapes, highlight local history, and ensure all people can enjoy the benefits of nature.
Kimberly is honored and enthusiastic to join the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. She looks forward to contributing to the agency’s impactful work and learning from her esteemed colleagues.
