Madge Bemiss

Principal
Brocade Studio

Madge combines broad experience, an ability to manage complex projects, and a personal commitment to fostering inclusivity and collaboration through engagement, design, and planning processes. Trained as an architect, and with extensive experience in project management, she embodies a rare balance of vision and pragmatism and is equally comfortable designing a new approach as she is in reimagining the current one. As the co-leader of Brocade’s interpretive planning practice, she has led Brocade’s work with the the City of Raleigh (interpretive planning for the Dix Park site), the Washington Park Arboretum, August Wilson House, the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center, and the American Civil War Museum. As a board member for the Friends of James River Park in Richmond, she worked in tandem with the park superintendent to spearhead the development of a Natural Resource Management Plan for the 600 acre park.
