Gillian Hodler
TreeFolks
Gillian grew up in New York City, and always loved climbing trees. She moved to Austin in 1999, on a bicycle, and immediately felt at home in the beautiful parks and abundant green spaces. She has studied plants with many different teachers, including permaculture with Caroline Riley, herbalism with Rosalee de la Foret, and indigenous seed saving with Rowen White. As a community volunteer Gillian served as the director of the 5604 Manor Community Garden in East Austin for eight years. Gillian joined TreeFolks in October 2018 as the NeighborWoods Program Assistant, and staff coordinator for Austin Environmental Heroes in partnership with Austin Youth River Watch. She leads the Seed To Tree Partnership with the Central Texas Seed Savers and loves to develop educational programming for the whole community to learn more about trees and environmental stewardship.
