Chris serves as the Director for the City of Richmond Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Facilities overseeing a department of 2,800 acres of park land, 200 staff, 22 community centers, and other community facilities. He has extensive experience with planning, developing, and implementing award-winning recreation programs.

A native of Greenville, NC, Chris attended the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science with a minor in Leisure Studies and his Master of Science degree in Recreation Administration. Before coming to Richmond, Chris worked for the City of Raleigh, NC Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources for 18 years holding various positions, with the final being the Assistant Superintendent over Recreation Services. Chris was also an adjunct professor at Mt. Olive University teaching Organizational Development to parks and recreation majors. Chris received the Triangle Access Award 2006 and Excellence in Recreation 2006 award while in Raleigh.
