Amalia Carmona
Downtown Austin Alliance
Amalia serves as the Director of Urban Design at the Downtown Austin Alliance, where she brings a strong foundation of architecture and urban design to shaping the future of downtown Austin. A licensed architect, she approaches her work through a multidisciplinary lens – bridging design, policy and community engagement to deliver thoughtful and inclusive urban environments.
Her work spans a wide range of scales, from local public art initiatives to regional infrastructure investments. Across these efforts, Amalia leads community-centered design processes, guiding projects from early visioning through implementation. In addition to managing a robust portfolio of urban design projects, Amalia plays a key role within the Downtown Austin Alliance, supporting and advancing the organization’s Mobility and Built Environment Committees.
Amalia holds a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Notre Dame and a Master of Urban Design from the University of California, Berkeley. She is also an active leader in the professional and local community, serving on the Board of Directors for AIA Austin and Austin Outside.
