Youth: How to Capture the Voice of Your Communities

Youth: How to Capture the Voice of Your Communities

In late 2018, our friend Khobi was an innocent victim of gang violence. We were already working on community outreach and park design for St. Charles Park, but Khobi’s death shattered us- it rocked our entire Ambassador family. This loss amplified our mission, and we doubled down on how much our neighborhood needed safe spaces, unity, perseverance, and a voice in all the changes happening around us. We were able to address our community’s greatest needs in this park project, because we were brought to the table to speak on their behalf. We will share how we built this park through partnerships and unlocking the connection, authenticity and power of our youth and our community.
