Danielle Pieranunzi

Danielle Pieranunzi works to advance nature positive outcomes, promote regenerative design, and improve sustainability and health in the built environment. Danielle is director of SITES, a rating system and certification developed to meet such goals to ultimately elevate the value of nature. At the U.S. Green Building Council, she focuses on strategic product management and evolution of SITES while supporting related clients solutions, market development, education, and outreach efforts.

She has been working on the Sustainable SITES Initiative (SITES) since 2006 collaborating with a diverse group of practitioners, scientists, educators, and policymakers to research and develop guidelines and metrics and define a rating system for high-performance landscapes and infrastructure. Danielle is committed to ensuring that nature has a voice at the table, that advocates are heard and leaders are recognized, and that ecosystem services are better understood and valued as an essential component of the built environment and community quality of life.
