Phil Fleischmann

Phil Fleischmann serves as Director of Parks and Recreation for the City of Greensboro, a position that he has held since December 2022. Prior to that time, he served as Director of Parks and Recreation for the Town of Chapel Hill (NC) for 3 1/2 years and in several progressively responsible management roles in the parks and recreation agencies in Greensboro, Mecklenburg County (NC), and Raleigh (NC).

For over a decade, Fleischmann instructed a management seminar for community and therapeutic recreation graduate students at UNC-Greensboro. He is a Certified Park and Recreation Executive (CPRE). He holds a Master of Science degree in parks and recreation management from UNC-Greensboro and an undergraduate degree from UNC-Chapel Hill. Over his 25-year career Fleischmann has helped to foster the great impact that parks and recreation services have on a community – providing benefits including increased health and wellness and quality of life, social equity, resource conservation, and economic impact.
