Occupational therapists (OTs) are uniquely qualified but underutilized to consult on public space projects. OTs regard individuals, groups, and communities holistically and consider social, mental, and physical health and well-being in their evaluations and intervention strategies. Discussion leaders will share about their partnership between the DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) and an Occupational Therapy Doctorate student project assessing 100 DPR parks and highlight potentials for interdisciplinary partnerships to emphasize the role of our park systems in modern day healthcare.
