Experience firsthand the importance of trails and linear park systems historically, today and for the future while visiting Austin’s first hike and bike trail, the Shoal Creek Trail.
Join members of the Shoal Creek Conservancy and learn more about Janet Fish’s vision, the history of linear parks, and the history of the Trail.
While visiting parks along the Shoal Creek Trail, we will discuss why we need more parks & trails in the context of Austin’s current ParkScore. Parks are still difficult to access if you don’t have a car and we’ll dive into why/how linear parks and trails allow the greatest benefit for community connections, recreation, and active transportation.
Tour the Shoal Creek Trail, learn about other trail networks and discuss how we can support them.
Note: Participants should be comfortable riding an e-bike. The route is approximately eight miles.
