Artificial Intelligence (AI) is rapidly transforming how governments operate—and for parks and recreation agencies, it represents an extraordinary opportunity to streamline operations, boost efficiency, and elevate service delivery.

Google will give a practical look at how real-world AI applications can help urban parks agencies meet their most pressing challenges. From improving how the public finds information, registers for programs, and receives timely answers to their questions, to equipping staff with AI tools that act as creative partners and administrative assistants, Google will demonstrate how AI can enhance both the community and employee experience. GovTech Innovators will spotlight specific examples of how AI agents are delivering measurable results from 24/7 automated customer service driving 25–35% increases in program registrations, to permit processing times cut by 50%, and administrative workloads reduced by up to 60%—AI is helping agencies meet growing demand while reducing strain on staff. The City of Atlanta Department of Parks and Recreation will discuss their AI project application to date and highlight the practical considerations and workflow adjustments involved in integrating AI into day-to-day operations to offer a closer look at what implementation looks like on the ground.

This session brings together these perspectives at the forefront of this shift, highlighting the real-world impact of AI and offering a clear path forward for agencies looking to begin or deepen their AI journey. Grounded in relatable public sector examples, this presentation will offer a clear vision of how accessible AI tools can be applied to better serve communities and manage park systems.
