Blending outdoor exploration, culinary discovery, cultural history, and contemporary art, this evening course offers participants a deep understanding of how ecological restoration, community identity, and creativity intersect to shape the future of Austin.
The tour begins with a guided Sunset Stroll at Waterloo Greenway’s Phase 2: The Confluence. This transformative 13-acre project, set to open in 2026, is reimagining lower Waller Creek as an ecological and cultural landmark. Participants will learn about the restoration and conservation efforts that are turning 1.5 miles of creek into a thriving urban greenway—supporting flood mitigation, native plant preservation, and wildlife habitat restoration—while also creating a welcoming public space for the community.
The group then heads to Red River Street for dinner and drinks on their own. Known as a historic hub for music and entertainment, Red River pulses with Austin’s creative spirit. Guests will enjoy 1.5 hours of free time to choose their own dining adventure—from smoky barbecue at Stubb’s, to Tex-Mex classics at Pelóns, or cocktails and conversation at Cheer Up Charlies. It’s the perfect chance to savor local flavors while soaking up the city’s vibrant nightlife.
The tour reconvenes at Waterloo Park, an 11-acre restored greenspace where lantern-lit paths lead through the Hill Country Garden to the Moody Amphitheater.
We will finish the night with an exclusive backstage tour, in which you will explore a “behind the scenes” look at Moody Ampitheater. Topics of conversation will revolve around revenue-generation opportunities in an urban park and operational focuses for special events.
*Please note that a live event will be taking place on the night of our tour. Participants will be escorted the entire time by Waterloo staff.
