Melody Alcazar
City of Austin Parks & Recreation Department
Melody joined Austin Parks & Recreation in 2018 as the Program Manager for the Cities Connecting Children to Nature initiative, working to equitably connect children to nature through partnership, policy, and community.
Prior to the City, she worked at Keep Texas Beautiful, the Dallas Zoo, and the San Antonio Zoo, managing nature-based family programming and exhibits. She is a member of the Texas Children in Nature Network Austin Collaborative, on the state steering committee for Texas Children in Nature Network, and is a member of Austin ISD’s Environmental Stewardship Advisory Committee.
Melody was born and raised in Austin but went away for college, where she received a B.S. in Zoology from Auburn University and an M.S. in Environmental Science from the University of New Haven.
She currently lives in Buda with her family.
