Diana Colangelo

Assistant Director of Programs

Diana Colangelo joined City Parks Alliance in 2019 and serves as assistant director of programs. Diana manages the Alliance’s virtual programs including workshops, webinars, and peer conversations, elevating innovative ideas and best practices in urban park system management and facilitating opportunities for the Alliance’s members to connect. Diana has also led technical assistance work in cities across the country, helping park leaders find solutions to challenges around governance, community engagement, and cross-sector partnership.

Prior to joining City Parks Alliance, Diana served as projects and policy specialist for the City of Burlington, Vermont’s Community & Economic Development Office. She provided technical assistance to small businesses and worked on projects affecting business and economic vitality in the city, including redevelopment projects and entrepreneurship initiatives.

Diana holds a Master of Public Administration from the University of Vermont. Before moving to the state, she worked as a housing advocate and case manager for homeless individuals in Boston at the nonprofit HomeStart, Inc. Diana received her bachelor’s degree in English and sociology from Boston College.

Diana lives in the Washington, DC area and is a Maryland master naturalist and avid birder. In her free time she can often be found traipsing around outside with a pair of binoculars, tending her native plant garden, or dancing. Diana’s favorite city park is Waterfront Park in Burlington, Vermont, where she has enjoyed many concerts and gorgeous sunsets over the Adirondack Mountains.
