The City of Raleigh is hiring a seasoned, experienced professional to lead the operations for the Gipson Play Plaza (GPP) at Dix Park. The Gipson Play Plaza is a 18.5-acre inspiring public space for all ages with one-of-a-kind play spaces, works of art, a civic plaza, fountains, gardens and more. Amazing play features include a sensory maze, water play mountain, swing terrace, and adventure playground. A picnic grove will offer areas to cook out and recharge with family and friends. GPP is anticipated to open to the public in the Spring of 2025. The goal is to hire this position as soon as possible to participate in construction meetings, develop opening and operating plans, and partner with the Dix Park Conservancy on the development of a concessions program. Reporting to the Dix Park Executive Director and working closely with staff across the Raleigh Parks system, the ideal candidate is a dedicated and motivated individual who can stay highly organized, multi-task, take initiative, and build and maintain good relationships internally and externally. This position is responsible for ensuring the Gipson Play Plaza offers a world class visitor experience. The GPP Manager must anticipate the needs of a busy and dynamic park; expand and manage relationships with public and private partners at the operational level, manage capital and operating projects, grow and expand earned revenue opportunities, and work closely with our maintenance team.
