Using Technology to Measure Park Use

Technology tools are becoming more accessible and cost-effective in our increasingly digital world. Park leaders can take advantage of various technology tools to collect data and more accurately understand park usage patterns, demographics of park users, and even how patrons are engaging with park spaces and each other. Park organizations can even explore investing in some tools directly and supplementing their data by partnering with other groups such as BIDs, chambers of commerce, and academic institutions to paint a more complete picture of park usage.

Join us to hear about the work of guest speakers from Memphis and Detroit, who will talk about the different ways in which they’ve leveraged technology to better understand how their parks are being used. They will also talk about how they’ve used this data to “make the case for parks” and/or provide a more responsive user experience.
