This event is open to representatives of grantmaking foundations only.
Join your grantmaking peers for an intimate opportunity to hear from and discuss important topics with leaders from the People, Parks, and Power (P3) Initiative. P3 is the first national funding initiative in the U.S. to support power building by community-based organizations to reverse deep seated park and green space inequities in Black, Latino, and Indigenous communities across the country.
The event will include speakers from:
- Prevention Institute, a national nonprofit dedicated to improving community health and equity through effective primary prevention, who will provide an overview of the P3 Initiative, lessons learned to date, and the importance of funding power building for park and green space equity.
- Berkeley Media Studies Group, a public health organization dedicated to expanding advocates’ ability to improve the systems and structures that determine health using strategic communication and media advocacy. BMSG will preview findings of their process of developing a comprehensive guide for changing the narrative on park equity– to highlight strategies for communicating about the policies and procedures for creating parks and green space that are inclusive and responsive to community needs.
Moderator:
Pamela Russo, Senior Program Officer, Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF)
Pamela will set up the conversation by sharing how RWJF came to fund this work, the opportunities and challenges it brings, and offer insights to those supporting similar efforts.
