James (J.J.) Tighe
Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Foundation
James (J.J.) Tighe joined the Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Foundation in 2017 and serves as Senior Director of Parks and Trails. In his role, he advances complex public space projects and leads grantmaking strategy for the Parks, Trails, and Green Design focus area—including the Foundation’s $200 million “Centennial Commitment” to close regional trail gaps and develop a signature waterfront park in Buffalo, NY and Detroit, MI.
Previously, J.J. was President and CEO of the Michigan Fitness Foundation and played a key role in launching the Iron Belle Trail in partnership with Michigan’s Department of Natural Resources.
A U.S. Army veteran, he served as a Captain in the 1st Infantry and 1st Cavalry Divisions, earning the Bronze Star and Air Medal during Operation Iraqi Freedom. He is an advocate for veterans and has served on several related boards.
J.J. holds a B.S. in Finance from Boston College and an M.B.A. from the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business.
