Welcome to the new member portal! Here are a few actions to take to maximize your user experience. After logging in, we recommend you update your profile and account settings.
Update Your Profile
In the member portal, from the top right icon, click “Profile” to edit your contact information, title, and organization. Don’t forget to add your picture to the icon!
On this page, choose whether you want to be listed in our member directory. Only other Alliance members can view the member directory.
Notification Settings
Once you have updated your profile, select “General Settings” from the top-right icon. Under profile visibility, you can select the personal information you want other members to see in the directory.
Then you can select your notifications. This setting will determine if other members can contact you from the directory or “groups” (more on groups below). Be sure to save your preferences for this page when you are done by clicking the “Save” button at the bottom or top right of the page.
Network
Build your community! There are two ways to network in our new system:
- Members – Select the main tab for members
- Here you can search by organization or name to connect with another member directly. You can follow their posts or message them. If you send a message and they have an email listed, they will receive an email and a notification in the portal.
- Members are required to follow community rules.
- Groups – Select the main tab for groups.
- Here you can view “all groups” and those you have joined that display as “my groups”. Group members are required to follow community rules.
- Once you click on a particular group, on the right-hand side, you can view:
- A description of the group under “group details”
- The group members
- Files or documents along with records
- From the middle, you can join the group and select how often you want to be notified about posts and other activity within the group.
- On the left, you can participate in the community by:
- Liking, Sharing, or Commenting! Give your feedback to support your fellow practitioners.
- Posting! Ask questions or share information on a topic relevant to the group.
- Polls – have a question that you want group members to weigh in on? This is a great option when you want to get quick feedback.
Example: Under Public Agency group, a poll could be: Do your staff serve as emergency responders for your agency? Yes or No response.
- Questions – for more detailed questions or to learn about specific examples, you can share a question here. This allows various responses.
Example: Has anyone built a trail along a powerline corridor?
