About the work of this position:
The Senior Parks Planner position serves as a team leader or project manager for a team of parks planners and technicians. The position performs complex parks planning studies, projects and assignments requiring a high degree of knowledge and ability in identifying and solving problems, policy interpretation and analysis and maintaining frequent contact with elected and appointed officials.
As the Senior Parks Planner, you may be assigned or be responsible for the following:
- Providing planning knowledge and expertise as part of the Healthy Parks, Healthy Portland Framework, which includes development of a Vision, Mission, Values, and Racial Equity statement and implementing outcomes as part of this process.
- Management of the PP&R Capital Improvement Program (CIP) and complete work on park levels of service, asset management, citywide systems, and land use.
- Conducting research, develop, and update comprehensive and long-range plans and associated policies and programs.
