Most of the parks in North America sit on lands formerly occupied by Native American Tribes, also known as First Nations. But few cities acknowledge that history or attempt to engage with members of First Nations to ensure their public spaces honor that history and represent the interests, needs or culture of Native American residents. In this session learn how cities are partnering with First Nations and indigenous residents to create culturally relevant public spaces through Indigenous Place-Making and to collaboratively develop a long-term vision for their parks in partnership with First Nations.
